Guidelines for authors
Datos Generales
The articles have to comply with the following parameters for approval and publication:
- Requirement of originality: the articles published in the infoANALÍTICA Journal have to be original and unpublished, and may not be published in any other journal, either virtual or printed. To ensure this section, the authors have to sign an originality document and assign the copyright. In this way, the authors agree to respect the academic information of other authors, and to assign the copyrights to the infoANALÍTICA Journal, so that the article can be edited, published and distributed.
- In the infoANALÍTICA journal, works by professors and researchers from the PUCE will be published, as well as authors from outside the University.
- Articles have to be written in Spanish.
- Scientific articles will be less than 5 pages or more than 10 pages with graphics included, with a maximum total of 25,000 characters. The review articles should have between 10 and 30 pages and a maximum of 100 bibliographic citations.
- The article to be published has to be sent with a letter to the editor of the journal.
To ensure the scientific quality of the articles submitted for publication, a blind peer review process is carried out
Cover
- Title of the article with uppercase letters, Times New Roman format number 14, in bold and centred with 1.5 paragraph space. The title should be in both Spanish and English.
- Under the title and centred, put the names of each author, in Times New Roman format number 12, with space 1.5 of paragraph, as follows: José Dávila P., Carla Casas L. & Francisco Chiriboga J.
- At the end of the name of each author, put a superscript and indicate the author's affiliation at the foot of the page, that is, place of work, country, city and email address as follows: José Dávila P 1, Carla Casas L.2 & Francisco Chiriboga J.3, and footnote indicate as follows: Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, School of Chemical Sciences, Quito Ecuador (jdavila@hotmail.com).
Keywords
- Under the author's name, include 4 to 6 keywords, in alphabetical order, that refer to the type of content of the article, to facilitate the search.
- These keywords have to appear first in Spanish and then in English (Keywords) and have to be aligned to the left.
Resumen / Abstract
- A summary of all the content must be presented: clear and concise. This summary must be in both Spanish and English. The content of the summary will be in a single paragraph and without column divisions.
- The summary will be placed in Spanish and then in English.
Conclusion
It must be written in one paragraph.
Text
The text must be written in Word format, Times New Roman number 12, as a text source, with a space of 1.5 of paragraph and divided into two columns.
The subtitles as introduction, materials and methods, results, among others, should be capitalized in bold and aligned to the left.
Tables and graphs should be placed between the text to help explain more about what the author is referring to.
It is recommended to maintain the order of the article as: title in Spanish, title in English, author's name, keywords (Spanish), keywords, abstract (Spanish), abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions and list of references.
Citations in the text
The way of citing articles has been based on the APA (American Psychological Association) seventh edition.
The citations will be used as follows: (Aguirre, 2007) in the case of a single author, for two authors (Aguirre & Pérez, 2007) and for more than two authors (Aguirre et al., 2007). These citations will go between the text and footnotes will only be marked Internet citations, and also explanatory data about terms, authors, among others.
List of references
General considerations: Alphabetical order by the first letter of the reference. In case of using articles or books by the same author, it must have a chronological order from the oldest to the newest. Each reference has the format of a French paragraph (hanging indent).
For electronic documents, do not include the name of the database where the article was found, but in the case of theses and electronic books. The date on which the item was retrieved is not included. The point is not written after the web address (URL).
The format for writing the cited literature will be used following the model APA (American Psychological Association) sixth edition:
Book with an author
Surname of the author, initial of the author's name. (year of publication). Name of the book in italics. City: Editorial. Example:
Flores de Fernández, R. (1965). Historia de la enfermería en Chile: Síntesis de su evolución educacional. Santiago: Universidad de Chile.
Book with more than one author and edition
Surname of the author, initial of the name. and the Last name of the second author, the initial of the name. (publication date). Name of the book in italics (number of the edition). City: Editorial. Example:
Hoffman, C.P. y Lipkin, G.B. (1981). Simplified nursing (19 ed.). Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott.
Book without an author or an editor
Title of the book in italics (edition number) (year of publication). City: Editorial. Example:
Merriam-Webster’s collegiate dictionary (10 ed.) (1993). Springfield: Merriam-Webster.
Part or chapter of a book
Surname of the author, initial of the name. and Last name of the second author, initial of the name (year of publication). Title of the chapter of the book. In the last name of the author of the book, the initial of the name. Title of the book in italics (edition number, pages). City: Editorial. Example:

Scientific journal article with an author
Author's last name, author's name (year of publication). Article title. Name of the journal in italics, number of the journal (volume), pages. Example:

Scientific journal article with more than one author
Author's surname, initial of the name, surname of the second author, initial of the name, surname of the third author, initial of the name, and surname of the fourth author, initial of the name (year of publication). Article title. Name of the journal in italics, number of the journal (volume), pages. Example:
Kernis, M.H., Cornell, D.P., Sun, C.R., Berry, A., & Harlow, T. (1993). There’s more to self-esteem than whether it is high or low: The importance of stability of self-esteem. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 65 (6), 1190-1204.

Figures and Tables
- The tables must have the explanatory text at the top and in bold letters.
- Figures have to carry the text at the bottom and with bold letters
- Locating the Tables and Figures in the position of the text where they are explanatory within the context that the author is referring to.
- Tables and charts have to be in Word format, and the figures can be in JPG or Word format.
- For Tables, Charts, Graphics, etc., full words will be used and numbered in order; example, Table 1. Physicochemical characteristics of the anise sample analyzed.
- If the images are obtained from previous publications, they must be cited.
- The images can not be modified in Photoshop, Illustrator or any other design software; the only possible modification is the increase or reduction of the color and contrast.
